Mange festivaler er knyttet til buddhismen eller Brahman ritualer og følger en månekalender.
Den thailandske nytår eller Songkran, fejres i midten af april til »badning 'Buddha billeder, for at vise respekt til munke og ældste med overbrusning afvand over deres hænder, og generelt spøjte en masse vand i luften for sjov. Forvent at blive gennemblødt, medmindre du ønsker at sidde og se det sjove i et hotelværelse.
Thailand fejrer såning og høst af ris. Til at starte den officielle ris-plantning sæson i begyndelsen af maj, kongen deltager i en gammel Brahman ritual i et stort område i det centrale Bangkok.
The Rocket Festival afholdes i maj i landets nordøstlige del, til at bruge en flygtig blanding af bambus og krudt overbevise himlen for at sende regn til den nye ris sæson. Rishøsten fra september frem til maj fører til glade lokale fester i hele Thailand.

Vegetar Festival fejres i Phuket og Trang, hvor fromme kinesiske buddhister spiser kun vegetarmad og kører i ni dage fra slutningen af september til tidlig oktober. Merit for øje processioner er de mest synlige udtryk for denne festival, men der er også ceremonier på kinesiske templer.
Elephant Roundup i Surin i november er en Elefant festival populær med den slags mennesker, der nyder at se pachyderms spille fodbold.
Loi Krathong Festival, er afholdt efter regntiden, normalt i november, hvor folk sender udsmykkede levende lys i blomsterflåder ud i floden, søer og andre vandveje for at bringe lykke for det kommende år. Thai Calendar I 1940, flyttede Thailand sin nytårsdag fra 13 april-1 Januar. Den gamle nytår er stadig en ferie kaldes Songkran. I Thailand er der tre nytårs dage. Den vestlige, den 1.Jan, det kinesiske nytår den første dag i den første Lunar måned, normalt i februar og det thailandske nytår præget af Songkhran festival i april. Thaierne udveksle normalt gaver d. 1. januar.
