Viele Feste sind mit
buddhistischen oder brahmanischen Ritualen verbunden und folgen
einem Mondkalender. Das thailändische Neujahr oder Songkran wird
Mitte April gefeiert, indem man Buddha-Figuren badet, Mönchen und
Ältesten Respekt zollt, indem man Wasser über die Hände streut und
im Allgemeinen zum Spaß viel Wasser in die Luft wirft. Erwarten Sie,
getränkt zu werden, es sei denn Sie möchten den Spaß in einem
Hotelzimmer heraus sitzen.
Thailand feiert die Aussaat und Ernte von Reis. Zum Auftakt
der offiziellen Reispflanzsaison Anfang Mai nimmt der König an einem
uralten Brahman-Ritual auf einem großen Feld im Zentrum von Bangkok
teil.
Das Rocket Festival findet im Mai im Nordosten des Landes
statt und verwendet eine flüchtige Mischung aus Bambus und
Schießpulver, um den Himmel davon zu überzeugen, Regen für die neue
Reissaison zu senden. Die Reisernte von September bis Mai führt zu
fröhlichen Festen in ganz Thailand.
